Abstract

This study aims to utilize the aesthetic qualities of Egyptian heritage to develop textiles appropriate for the interior decoration of Egyptian embassies overseas. Notwithstanding the abundance and diversity of Egyptian heritage and its ornamental features, there is a deficiency in adequate investment in textile design specifically designed for diplomatic environments like embassies. Embassies are important symbols that immediately represent a nation's image and serve as indicators of its advancement. They serve as cultural conduits for any nation and embody its official visage. Furthermore, these structures possess distinct practical demands, requiring careful consideration of their architectural design, operational efficiency, and interior aesthetics. Textiles, encompassing many types, techniques, embellishments, and hues, represent one of the most expressive artistic expressions throughout human cultures. Historically, they have been intricately associated with architecture and its purpose, serving not just as ornamental features but also as genuine reflections of societal cultures and indicators of their progress. Textiles serve not merely as decorative elements inside a space—such as wall hangings, floor coverings, curtains, or other furnishings—but are essential components of architectural design. This position necessitates the expertise and discernment of artists and designers. The growing emphasis on improving the visual appearance of Egyptian embassies in global capitals positions textile design as a crucial field for delivering unique solutions that harmonize authenticity with modernity. This project seeks to derive inspiration from components of Egyptian past to design ornamental textiles suitable for diplomatic settings, so reinforcing Egyptian identity and creating a visual representation that encapsulates tradition and sophistication. This study exemplifies an effective method for attaining creative and aesthetic excellence in the interior design of Egyptian embassies. It provides a novel viewpoint on enhancing textile arts by a comprehensive examination of the aesthetics of Egyptian heritage and the evolution of textile designs influenced by it. The study employs both conventional and modern methods to create decorative textiles appropriate for diplomatic environments, thereby augmenting the identity of Egyptian embassies and elevating the artistic and functional significance of textiles utilized in the decoration of interior walls, floors, windows, furniture, and other components. The study encompasses the development of various textile designs utilizing semi-mechanical carpet methods, Kilim weaving, digital printing, and Gobelin weaving. All designs in the research draw inspiration from Egyptian heritage, with the objective of accentuating Egyptian identity, celebrating the beauty of Egyptian customs, and underscoring the necessity of saving them from extinction.
