Restoration and rehabilitation of ancient buildings - Sabil Muhammad Ali Pasha as a model of an architectural masterpiece that embraces the Egyptian Textile Museum

Abstract

In the last half of the twentieth century, many trends emerged calling for the restoration and rehabilitation of archaeological buildings to be a form of cultural coordination, archaeological revival, and sustainable development in civilization and historical areas with highly distinctive and complex architectural elements, such as the example of Muhammad Ali Pasha’s Sabil in al-Muizz Li Din Allah al-Fatimid Street, which was conservated ,rehabilitaed and prepareted as a visual painting synchronized with aesthetic , functional, utilitariation and cultural values, and to achieve the concept of rehabilitation and the transfer of the Sabeel to the Egyptian Textile Museum with the beginning of 1998 and to develop the inhabitants influence and awareness with the archaeological buildings history and civilization values . the inhabitants preserve and assist the responsible authorities to achieve integration in all development areas accordance with international conventions to preserve the antiquity and try to benefit from it for conservation, preservation and development for the region, while trying to spread awareness among civil society, developing their self-formation, educating their children, entertaining their families, integrating by using all possible strategic tools and accompanying them with world events, whether related to heritage or other cultural activities and to shed light through this development on the importance of the Egyptian textile collections and their splendor and the summit of their industry through the various departments of the museum, while demonstrating the role of the museum team with its great ambitions it seeks To achieve this despite the scarcity of capabilities and limited resources and their search for new sources of income for the museum other than tickets , selling books and souvenirs, by working to revitalize the exhibitions, cultural activities, training programs and educational activities provided by the museum and preparing specialized training courses, which they deserved to obtain the best museum team work in the The Ministry of Antiquities by ICROM in the year 2018
