Abstract

Generation after generation Jazan region has inherited many traditional industries and crafts, the basis for such crafts was the demanding need for them for the sake of living all over the year and for many occasions. Some examples of them are;
Pottery, wicker, stone utensils, wood leather, sweets, sesame, and tar industry in addition to many other industries.
The study assumes that working on creative artistic designs for traditional crafts and industries in Jazan region will have a prominent role in pushing the wheel of tourism in the kingdom and will work on the introduction of the area and how rich it is with local heritage.
The aim is to assure the effective role of creative design for traditional crafts and industries in Saudi Arabia kingdom to display them in a level that suits the heritage of Jazan region and benefit the development of tourism.
The importance lies in the contribution to show the heritage of Jazan region with modern designs that supports tourism in Saudi Arabia kingdom and the community participation in that.
The research problem is lying in the next question: what is the role of new designs related to traditional crafts and industries in Jazan region in developing tourism in Saudi Arabia kingdom?
The research curriculum: follows the descriptive, analytical approach, as data, details and information will be collected around the southern area (Jazan) in Saudi Arabia kingdom and introducing a complete study about the situation of traditional crafts and industries in it.
The research axes:
1- Traditional crafts in Jazan region.
2- Tourism in Saudi Arabia kingdom.
3- Novel designs related to traditional crafts and industries in Jazan region.
