Abstract

After the first World War, disintegration seemed to afflict the world. Artists sought to establish a new concept of beauty since all things around us contain aesthetic values that express a mental or emotional vision of reality. Artists rejected academic rules, raising the slogan (Anti-Art) with the aim of fighting art with art, as a protest to the reality produced by the twentieth century, and the emphasis on the role of art in society. Their works came as a chaos of shapes, as materials such as leather, wood, newspapers, etc. appeared in them, in what was known as the art of collage. And in the fifties of the twentieth century, the art of Assemblage came to light.
Assemblage is the synthesis of separate things, reformulating and arranging them, to obtain an integrated unity to create a new relationship based on disharmony and contrast, not compatibility and consistency, which paved the way for the richness of creative thought. The selection of ready-made objects materials made for non-artistic purposes which Assemblage is created from is in itself a creative process, determined by the artist's vision of what the artwork will be like, and then organizing those elements on the work surface, to create new formulations. And in it, vanishes the basic function for which those items were made. To finally transcend it with the neighboring elements within the work to achieve his idea. This is the basis on which this research is based upon, which is the role of Assemblage in enriching the creative thought of the artist. As a result, many creative solutions are born from the artist's interaction with different materials and unlimited elements that carry special connotations which is noticed by the eye of an artist, and thus the methods of performance vary as a result of what those elements have inspired the artist, supported by his skills and experience.
Accordingly, the art of Assemblage, with its unlimited and unconventional materials -as a result of industrial and technological progress- generates unlimited ideas and creative and unconventional visions. It is also a clear example of the burdens of freedom granted to the artist.
