Abstract

Abstract :
According to many architectural references, there is a correlation between the psychological state of architectural space's users and proportions and colors of the different spaces. Several studies have recommended using certain colors and proportions for specific spaces to perform certain activities. Recent research has shown that there is a correlation between a psychological and physiological condition and that they are both sides of a single coin. Ornaments throughout history were not merely the composition elements of spaces, but had profound spiritual meanings that influenced space occupants. Thus, there is an indication that the colors and proportions may have physiological effects on the users of architectural spaces, which makes a re-evaluation of the elements of the composition -including ornaments- in architectural spaces very important.
Based on the previous theoretical approach, the research establishes hypothesis that ornaments have physiological effects on architectural space’s occupants. The research used experimental approach to prove this hypothesis, using architectural space model whose walls are decorated with a set of ornaments belonging to certain civilizations. The effects of these ornament on the space are then measured using a Biowell device. Finally, the results of these measurements will show the effects of these ornaments on vital functions of architectural space’s occupants
Search objective:
The main objective of the research is to study the effect resulting from the use of the different ratios of the horizontal plan of the architectural spaces on its vital energy. The research also aims to monitor the effects resulting from the use of decorative elements as a means of forming architectural spaces on the energy of the architectural space.
The importance of the research lies in:
1- Studying the vital effects of some Islamic decorative elements on the architectural space and consequently on the users of this space.
2- Develop a new mechanism for evaluating the plastic elements by monitoring their impact on the energy of the place.
