Functional needs and the spiritual dimensions of Islamic architecture and the impact on interior design

Abstract

Islamic architecture has emerged as a distinct character of an art which expresses its specificity; It is the art that sends a self quieter and tranquility of eye for seeing it, because it is related to the Islamic faith.
Architecture relationship reflected the Islamic religion through the doctrine of monotheism ideological basis, and through the Islamic teachings, principles and traditions.
That unifying ideology that is based on the belief in one God, absolutely and has no one like him, {And there is none like unto Him}, (Sincerity (Al-Ikhlas) Surah, verse: 4) He is Allah, The Lord of all creatures and The Lord heavens and earth.  According to this concept it differs from the concept of the Lord in all religions and beliefs, Faith and the practice of civilized look in the search for the secret of absolute and tremendous abilities which is represented in objects and nature.
Architecture is a pot of civilization, and represents the cultural identity of the creative and aesthetic level of the human being,  so we have to stick to their originality, and work to fend off the curious architectural invasion of non-Islamic character of the city, cut off from the roots, the environment and human.
The Islamic architecture, its engineering technology and aesthetic manifestations were normal for age's prosperity in the civilization of Islam, or naturally spread to this ancient civilization.
   The diversity of styles of architecture introduce an evidence of the role of creativity in architectural design, and evidence of the normalization of architecture with the urban, social and cultural environment in which they arise, and it remains the diversity of Islamic architecture within the unity of the characteristics that will assist in the formation of modern architecture, has authenticity, and reflect the ability of evolution and renewal and creativity.
The goal of studying the Arts of Islamic architecture, is not for refreshing the historical memory and talk about the past and its achievements, but also for researching future formula for this, based on the Arts update to fit life evolution and means of accelerating, with the benefit of this and future formula in the field of interior design and applied to achieve integration between architectural design and interior design and the surrounding environment.
