Aesthetics carved trappings on the wooden outdoors of the archaeological city of Al-Hajarayn in Yemen as an input to enrich the woods works

Abstract

Heritage is defined as all the habits, traditions, sciences, Literatures, and arts that are inherited through generations. Patriotic heritage is a main source for inspiration and improvement of education. This could be achieved through focusing on one inherited object and studying of all the unseen factors surrounding it. This will help improve the art education especially the wood arts.

Yemen is one of the Arabic countries that have a very rich heritage full of art, beauty and science. One of the most famous archaeological cities in Yemen is Al-Hajarayn which is located at the beginning of the famous Wadi Dawaen. Al-Hajarayn is considered one of the most beautiful archaeological cities, located on a rocky plateau looking at the entrance of the left and right entrance of Wadi Dawaen. It is known for the muddy architecture and the wooden arts. The houses wooden doors is one of the most important wooden arts as they have a lot of trappings, epigraphy, Quran words and poetry. Also, the wooden doors represents the level of their owner in the community. 

That is what led to the research idea, which is searching for the artistic  items in the trappings carved on the wooden outdoors of the archaeological city of Al-Hajarayn in Yemen. Also to make use of them in enriching the woods works  done by the art collages students.
