Line as a formative element in the Contemporary Relief Sculpture in the West

Abstract

     The contemporary relief sculpture' artist uses the lines along with the rest of artistic formation elements to achieve his idea, and works to place them in accordance with his vision and  personality, as there were many lines and a variety of formations in the contemporary relief sculpture through the artworks of the pioneers of this art and its consecutive generations, then their artworks where they use the line have gained a great attention, where the artist dealt with them consciously, as he used different techniques that could be adapted depending on the artistic subject, its performance style, and the substantial role of lines in its construction and its relation to the formation elements.
     This was the result of the scientific and technological development, the scientific discoveries and the enormous industrial progress that has occurred in the twentieth century and the consequent multiplicity of various intellectual trends that appropriate with the age and its events.
     Trends and Modern Art Movements were formed and had the greatest impact on changing the concept of the relief sculpture art changing of its forms, and had multiple formulations that wasn't happen in relief sculpture movement in ancient civilizations.
