Interactive Design in open public places Islamic architecture as a source of inspiration Between philosophy and application

Abstract

Human civilizations have characterized over centuries, for each one of them to have its own features and characteristics, appeared in their arts and architecture, this distinction was affected by several factors some of which linked to the environment in which this civilization arose, and some of which linked to religious beliefs, although they differ in forms and styles there was always a need for the existence of public open places, which brings members of the community for various differed or assembled reasons together.

 It has appeared that the more the community is closed with no meeting areas for interaction between its members, the more social problems appear in this community.

With the great technological development and the endless possibilities offered by digital technologies use in design, side by side with the change in the individuals life styles, a massive need for the development of new artistic settlements in public open spaces design appeared, a kind of design encouraging different styles of human interaction with design with respect to the cultural heritage of these communities that keeps its unique identity.

This research studies this issue in two sections, the first section concerns the philosophy of designing public places in the Islamic civilization and how far it is attached to the Islamic beliefs. The second section concerns the great evolution in architectural design of open public places and modern trends that encourage the process of interaction with these designs, to produce public open places preserving the Islamic identity with the great artistic richness and concept and presenting the subsequent technological evolution in public open places design to fulfill contemporary society and individual needs.
