The Evolution of the Sculptural Forming Of the Acanthus Plant and Its Role in Applied Sculpture

In many purposes and the development of the acanthus plant (or acantha)  form and purpose of its usage is considered as one of the most prominent sculptural decoration used throughout the ages. Moreover, the acanthus leaf, with its various motifs and forms produced throughout the ages tell up-to-date  is a functional sculpture for beautification either for architectural purposes internally or externally.The most important of which we are dealing with is wood sculpture to serve the furniture industry in Damietta. In the exploratory study among the public of specialists in the furniture industry in Damietta, we note that the plant motives used in the decoration of furniture in wooden sculpture depends mainly on the acanthus plant. However it's required to monitor and evolution the sculptural structure of the acanthus blocks throughout the ages. Not only that, but up to the present time where the image currently used as a sculptural formation as far as depends on the wooden sculpture of the furniture industry.
