Abstract

Linguistic characters are either written or spoken symbols. Written Linguistic characters are only the embodiment of Spoken language; it is the transmission of sound to writing.
The Arabic calligraphy is one of the strongest linguistic characters in the Arab-Islamic civilization. It is deeply reflecting the identity and originality of the Islamic nation, reflecting its historical depth, artistic sense, aesthetic taste, and its embodied spiritual values and abstract dimensions capable of translating the attitudes of the Arab-Muslim man toward the universe, life and values. It is also technically considered the world's most diverse and aesthetic calligraphy.
The phenomenon of inspiration and the use of Arabic alphabet as Linguistic characters in the aesthetic composition and expression have become worthy of study and attention; Especially that it has become common in many works of furniture designers in Western and Arab countries, including the Arab Republic of Egypt.
 This research explains aesthetic and formative values ​​of the Arabic calligraphy as authentic linguistic characters, and its use in the design of contemporary furniture,
