Abstract

Both symbolism and symbol have been known for a long time. And the symbol -: a sensory perception that replaces something or another sensory perception, not by conformity, but by suggesting or referring to it, or by the existence of a recognized accidental relationship; It is also known as "the term given to the visible thing which presents to the mind a similarity to something that is not clear but is perceived by means of its connections". The perception of the symbol may differ from place to place and from civilization to civilization due to different cultures. Rather, culture is considered a composite fabric of symbolic systems. The role of symbolism is not limited to the individual level, but the symbol is a link between members of society.

The beauty of the symbol lies in the visual image on which it is located and is easy to understand through the culture and thought of the beholder. Its success also lies in the logical connection between the symbol and the signified by it.

The symbol has an intellectual and aesthetic content that depends on the relationship between the receiver and the designer and the message to be communicated through the symbol.

Symbolism also has a social role, as symbolism links social actors among themselves through symbols. Symbolism also emphasizes the identity of people without stopping through different means of communication.

The symbolism in design depends on the visual culture of the designer by reconsidering the universe around him and formulating his idea through the various design elements and their implications in an innovative structural system that helps to convey the idea or the content of meaning to the viewer in an aesthetic way. Art also performs some symbolic functions, not all of them, and works may contain. Art has a symbolic function other than the image it is, and perhaps the artwork has no representational function, but rather for beauty only; There is no doubt that the symbols embedded in the art may give some richness to the artwork.
