Abstract

The research deals with a comparative study between the movie Joker 2019 and the movie Roma 2018 to identify the similarities and differences between the films shown through digital platforms and the movies shown in the cinemas and how they process ideas and the quality of the mental image offered by each of their two types through analysis and comparison between the features and characteristics of independent movies language shown on websites and digital platforms as opposed to commercial movies By comparing the elements of the film's story from the narrative, composition, lighting, colors, movements, camera angles, lenses and shots through the films Roma and Joker, where the film Roma 2018 is produced by the Netflix platform of a well-known director. The entry of the internet has contributed as a presentation medium in the world of filmmaking through online streaming platforms in a huge shift in the world of filmmaking in general, It also contributed to providing a different mental image of the surrounding concepts and events because it has become one of the most important entertainment and the most popular material that the audience prefers to watch in different age groups because it conveys an image that simulates reality, Cinema also has a great influence on viewers and has the ability to change their awareness and conscience and attract their attention. But there is a dearth of studies that are interested in analyzing and comparing between the features and characteristics of independent movies language shown on websites and digital platforms as opposed to commercial movies. The research aims to identify the differences between the language used in independent movies produced for a digital platform and the sample chosen here is Rome 2018 film, produced by the Netflix platform. And between commercial movies shown in cinemas and the sample here Joker 2019 film. Through two movies with different contexts and treatment, and what they have in common is that both films have won an Oscar award.
