In light of the problems and repercussions of climate change and the imbalance in the ecosystem occurring in the entire world, there is a global interest in solving climate change issues, which are at the top of the challenges facing the world currently, and the Arab Republic of Egypt is hosting the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2022. Therefore, there has become an imperative necessity to move towards finding alternative environmentally friendly raw materials without the traditional ones recognized to achieve the standards and principles of sustainability, in order to reduce the risks of environmental pollution, and to take advantage of waste recycling technology to dispose of it without side effects on the environment and achieve the maximum benefit at the environmental, social and economic levels.

The research dealt with one of the techniques for recycling environmentally friendly material "cardboard", and how efficiently cardboard is used as an environmentally friendly material alternative to the design process of interior design and furniture design meets the principles of sustainability in terms of environmental dimension as well as economic and social dimension, in order to achieve a more environmentally friendly life.

The research also included models of applied projects for students in the Department of Interior Design and Furniture, which were used cardboard material to make different designs for furniture pieces, through the development of the furniture design course (1), to achieve the role of the designer in finding solutions and alternatives to the surrounding problems and keep pace with modern trends in design.

The problem of the research lies in asking several questions, including: how efficient is the use of corrugated cardboard as a substitute material to achieve interior design and sustainable furniture, the importance of research Emphasize the importance of keeping pace with modern environmental design trends for students of art faculties, and the research aims to: increase awareness of the choice and use of environmentally friendly materials in educational programs as well as members of the community, also introduce cardboard used as environmentally friendly alternative materials with interior design and furniture.
