Abstract

The cultural and creative industries are the fastest growing sectors of the global economy. They include many fields and they depend on knowledge, creativity and innovation derived from the cultures and civilizations of localities. Accordingly Countries pay attention to their heritage in order to achieve growth in national income. Egypt possesses vast array of cultural components that potentially could contribute to achieving growth in the national income. Pottery is one of, the most important handicrafts that form the structure of the cultural industries in Egypt. Among the evidence of its ancient civilization, as evidenced by archaeological missions every day, it represents the living history of peoples stemming from our association with customs, traditions and our ways of living that reflect the cultural aspect of the components of civilization

This research aims to study pottery as one of the cultural and creative crafts in Egypt. Moreover, it demonstrates the importance of cultural and creative industries to the national income in Egypt. Where it achieved a proportion of the total trade in the world about $2250 billion, which is equivalent to about 7% of the global product and providing about 30 million jobs in 2013, and countries include it within their strategic plans to advance their economy and consider it a soft power The research uses case study to deeply approach the research problem. Al Nazla in Fayoum, Egypt; is studied as one of the most important regions that are famous for this craft, and stands as one of the richest pottery centers for its unique pottery, as well as production and firing methods
