Abstract

Studying the semantic dimensions of the elements of mobile applications and how to apply them is one of the main factors for the success of the application and achieving communication goals because of its impact on the user's response and attracting his/her attention.

Where illustrations, icons, shapes, colours, and fonts are used functionally in conveying and clarifying meaning more easily and clearly, it is also considered a powerful tool for communication, and it is used as a tool for representing complex information in a visual form. also, it is a powerful tool to guide the user's eye.

The research problem lies in the lack of many mobile applications related to the Corona virus in the link between the semantic dimensions and the design of the mobile application, and given the role of mobile applications in communicating with the public immediately, they can be used as an effective means in confronting the Corona virus, and for these applications to achieve their communication goals effectively; The designer needs to study the semantic dimensions of the various application design elements in order to achieve both the desired functional and aesthetic goal, so the research problem is summarized in trying to answer the following question: What are the semantic dimensions that must be taken into account when designing mobile phone applications for the Corona virus to achieve communication goals?

The research follows the descriptive approach, by studying the mobile phone applications of the Coronavirus, their communication objectives, design elements, and communication dimensions. Then analyse a set of models for mobile phone applications related to the Corona virus to study its semantic dimensions and its role in achieving communication goals

Based on it, it was concluded: The semantic dimensions of the design elements of coronavirus mobile applications are related to the achievement of communication goals, as illustrations and icons are used functionally in conveying and clarifying the meaning more easily and clearly as a tool for representing complex information in a visual form. In addition, it is necessary to consider the use of fonts correctly and to choose the type of font in accordance with the nature of the application. Color also contributes to achieve communication goals because it helps in directing the user response.
