Abstract

"The city is a lost dream, lost and exiled, and no other longings can match the longings of the individual, any individual, to reach it, and in the city, too, every lost person will discover his identity and recognize himself". To discover our Moroccan identity, we resolved to avoid the grip of wandering and go out to search for heritage cities bearing the stamp of holiness in the Middle Maghreb countries", Just as Adam descended from heaven to build a holy house on earth, Ismail descended from heaven to build the ancient house, and the Children of Israel descended from heaven to restore Jerusalem as a shining golden city". According to this viewpoint, the researcher deals with Moroccan human heritage in order to find evidence that can prove the truth of that vision that announced the existence of Moroccan mythical and miraculous cities comparable to something in their holiness to the city of Jerusalem and Iram that Al-Emad. And because such cities remained in the shadows of absence and obscurity, and did not receive their fair share of research and scrutiny, we will attempt to provide an objective historical reading that contributes to reviving this forgotten absence within the ongoing research on the field of urban history, and bringing it to light with a desire to restore its consideration, fairness, and remove the ambiguity that still surrounds him. To fully realize civilized sacred heritage in the Moroccan field as a whole, we must answer some of the questions raised, such as whether there is heritage and historical evidence proving that Morocco contains holy cities. And, if it contains holy cities, what are they, and what makes them holy in Moroccans' eyes and collective consciousness?
