Abstract

The Islamic architectural heritage is considered a cultural wealth that must be taken care of and protected. It is an honest record of the culture of the community that must be studied, clarification of its characteristics and benefits, and work to complete the process of its development, to become more appropriate with the conditions of the era and cultural transformations, where developed of the art architecture with the development of social life and with the different of the systems cities Modern.



the art of Islamic architecture is a formative and decorative creativity that increases the personalization of the building’s identity and function by designing the shape of the building and the shape of its construction elements, such as columns, arches, domes and cables.

The research deals with the problem of the absence of the concept of creative thought of the Islamic style, moving away from the Arab and Islamic identity in architectural design and being influenced by Western thought, and not taking into account the design and aesthetic values in terms of proportions, dimensions and measurements when simulating traditional styles, which leads to the design losing its identity, as well as the lack of design standards that help In the revival of old styles.

The research aims to:

1- Linking the fine values of Islamic art and Islamic architectural elements to contemporary architectural designs.

2- Emphasizing the importance of reviving the role of Islamic architectural elements in architecture.



The research assumes that there is a relationship between the design foundations of Islamic art and the contemporary intellectual and design trends, which makes it suitable for survival through different ages. The research follows the historical approach in terms of studying the establishment from the historical side and studying the social, religious, economic and other determinants that affect the design of architecture. And the descriptive analytical approach through analyzing and evaluating the architectural elements in terms of functionality, form and performance in some residential buildings that were designed in the past and recently using the elements of Islamic architecture and employing them to impart an Arab-Islamic character, which are the "historical buildings that Korba Square is famous for" in Heliopolis, which dates back to It was built for more than a hundred years, and the new Korba buildings in El-Shorouk.
