Abstract

Research Summary

The visual language of the cinematic film is a key to understanding the meanings and messages presented by the director in order to express his personal vision. Like the language used by the writer according to the rhetorical and grammatical rules and methods, it raises and reveals issues and ideas based on an alphabet consisting of a set of visual elements that the film includes. Some of these elements such as the script, sound and soundtrack, but the biggest role depends on the visual and visual elements of the film.

History has always been a source from which filmmakers draw inspiration for their artistic works that immortalize great historical figures and events, while cinematic works of all kinds and classifications have turned into distinct historical sources. The ancient Egyptian civilization has always been a source of inspiration and passion for international filmmakers, with what it carries with it of fascination, mystery and prestige, and it is inspired by many international films. From this point of view, the question arises: Did these films contribute to building the public’s awareness and ideas? Did she have a role? In the formation of mental images of the ancient Egyptian civilization? Or that the film may turn into a kind of myth, with characters that do not exist, and details and events that were not mentioned in the history books, which creates a parallel world. For this date, which may be like it in some details, and may not be identical to it in other details.

The study seeks to analyze and highlight the material culture adopted by the makers of these artworks, to discover the elements of successful cinematic treatment of historical events, and its ability to create an educational cinematic genre. This is applied to the movie The Mummy and its scenes, costumes and characters, to link between historical credibility on the one hand and inspiration for the spirit of ancient Egyptian civilization on the other hand.
