The role of interior design in finding design solutions to raise the functional efficiency of the service spaces (An analytical study of restaurants with limited space)

Abstract

In our modern times, the forms and ways of living have become different and our daily lifestyle so fast. Therefore, people spend less time on food and dressing. So many restaurants have been opened and spread rapidly around the world. One of the reasons for this, is the fast services provided by restaurants.

Design, which includes architecture, interior spaces and other areas that we need daily, has become important to meet the urgent special and general human needs. Anyone has the right to invent whatever he wants to meet his functional needs and for the sake of innovation for his life.

To achieve the goals, any design must take into account the updated styles on both form and function sides. The innovation that is employed in our daily life is considered an addition that organizes our life affairs and achieves convenience.

The study aims to analyze the service spaces of restaurants that provide fast food, and find out the design problems and ways to overcome them by using specific design solutions.

The study addresses the serious small interior space problems that exist in any interior space. The research problem is to find ways that would increase the efficiency of using internal spaces in places providing services, which contributes to finding a solution to the small space problem.

The study also aims to conduct an action research by analyzing the design idea with female students to study the plan of a restaurant in the best location in Jazan, Saudi Arabia. The main objective of the project is to find solutions for small spaces.
