Functional and aesthetic values of light and color effects and their impact on the formation of interior spaces through glass openings

Abstract

The research discusses the effects of light and color on the interior spaces through architectural openings such as windows, doors, ceilings and facades through stained glass and stained with its distinct and valuable formations, which were used in the most important facilities such as international cathedrals in Europe, America and Egypt, as well as Islamic art, which excelled artists throughout the ages in adapting it very brilliantly to serve interior architecture . The research reviewed natural and industrial lighting and light effects and their relationship to future architecture. The research sheds light on the importance of controlling the effects of light and color through stained glass openings in the architecture of medieval cathedrals, in which stained glass was used to fill all possible openings in those buildings, through which it was told and transmitted images from the Bible and considered color in those eras and architecture as an element of achieving a sense of awe within the place and achieving spirituality, which the designer used color and light as a tool to represent the divine spirit within the spaces and helped to form the spaces Interior Various models of cathedrals, mosques, palaces and other historical places were reviewed. Where the research concluded the importance of using light and color effects through architectural glass openings within the spaces of interior architecture throughout the ages as well as in contemporary architecture and its main role in the formation of internal spaces as well as their psychological effects on the recipient, and the possibility of linking spaces by light, and linking between the interior and exterior, and how the stained glass openings affected the properties of the visual formation of architectural facades, and the need to achieve the purpose for which the building was designed and the importance of choosing materials and the researcher reviews various public places Its activities such as malls, museums and recreational areas, as well as villas and private houses and their different effects on each of the activities and also an applied experience from the work of the researcher to façade a residential villa with its different stages of construction.
