Textile printing design as an aesthetic addition to the development of traditional crafts and industries in contemporary Islamic formats

Abstract

In the light of the state’s role in caring for upgrading traditional handicrafts, and increasing their competitiveness in global markets, especially those are on the verge of extinction due to the dominance of technology in the fields of industry in general. Hence there was a need to update the designs of these traditional crafts with contemporary ideas, and from here the research question was: How can we benefit from the aesthetics of the typographic design of textiles as an aesthetic addition to the revival of traditional leather crafts and industries in contemporary Islamic formulas? The research aims to shed light on the importance of modernizing traditional industries and handicrafts, including leather industries, as one of the products of fashion and fashion supplements, and as ideas for small projects in order to develop this sector and increase the aesthetic value of the Egyptian product in order to achieve its competitiveness in the local and global markets by creating a set of ideas The design is inspired by symbolism in Islamic art, and combines the aesthetics of the print design of textiles and the design of traditional leather products.The research assumes the possibility of developing and modernizing industries and handicrafts and supporting them with innovative design ideas by taking advantage of the aesthetics of the typographic design of textiles as an added value to the design of traditional leather industries, in order to gain them a competitive advantage in the markets. The research follows the descriptive approach to define one of the traditional crafts and industries in Egypt, , and the analytical descriptive approach to the concept of the symbol in Islamic art as a source of inspiration for designs of textiles and the applied approach in implementing some contemporary printed textile designs with the application on Leather products
