Abstract

This research aims to use Styrofoam waste in an environmentally safe manner. Styrofoam is the trade name for polystyrene foam, which is known commercially as compressed foam boards or white granules used to store electrical and glass appliances and other shocks when transported from one place to another. These residues are disposed of by dissolving them in gasoline and used in this research. What is known commercially as gasoline 92 to make a homogeneous solution that has the ability to give different textile materials the property of resistance to wetness and impermeability to water when treated with it, noting that benzene after experimentation and making the solution has been confirmed that it has lost the property of rapid ignition when approaching the source of the flame, which makes dealing with the solution Safer, so the jacket is more protected

After experimenting with more than one material, the choice fell on the material (Salia), which is mostly used In the work of lining clothes, such as a jacket, because it is a light material that facilitates the penetration of the solution through it, and it is cheap and accessible to everyone. And water permeability, and it can be used as a rain jacket, which is one of the most important and most used protective clothing. Hence, the importance of research appears in maintaining a clean environment by striving to get rid of various wastes in an environmentally safe manner. The research used the experimental method for its suitability to achieve the objectives of the research.

The most important results in this research were the possibility of producing a rain jacket by successfully treating the Alalia cloth with styrofoam and benzene solutions. It is environmentally friendly and completely economically inexpensive, which serves the field of protective clothing industry and achieves the idea of environmentally and economically sustainable development and helps in reducing the harmful effects of climate change.
