Abstract

Today, the students of the Department of Interior Design and Furniture face a real challenge represented in the need to raise their design and creative capabilities. However, we still have shortcomings and a lack of curricula for design with a creative direction, as well as the failure to make optimal use of the creative energies inherent in interior design students through which innovation can be made. Attractive and unique designs that achieve a competitive advantage for them locally, regionally and globally, and by identifying the concept of lateral thinking, its characteristics and objectives, one of the methods and strategies that have a vital and effective role in supporting and developing lateral thinking among design students has emerged, which is the Scamper strategy, as this strategy has proven to be the most successful and advanced in The application, among the many current problem-solving methods used in the design process, is simply a strategy for generating ideas. It works to produce design ideas by asking seven different types of methods that contain a set of directed questions that help the student understand how to generate and develop ideas. Design by suggesting some additions to or modification of something that already exists.

Due to the importance of the Scamper strategy in developing different thinking skills, especially lateral thinking, many educational studies have been conducted that examined its impact on the development of thinking skills, which prompted the researcher to present a research study dealing with the importance of including the Scamper strategy in the content of design courses, where she noticed that students need Desperate to develop and enhance lateral thinking skills by identifying modern and interesting teaching methods for students away from indoctrination and the usual methods followed by professors of design courses, as well as providing students with the opportunity to take their role in thinking and the ability to produce solutions leading to sound decision-making, in order to raise the level of students and develop their creative ability.
