Abstract

Abstract

The field of packaging design is constantly evolving with the changing requirements of society, resulting in different design trends and philosophies. With this rapid development , new trends have emerged, such as minimalism and maximalism , both of which have recently been applied in packaging design.

Minimalism is an approach that combines art and design and follows the concept that less is more , advocating for simplification and abstraction without excessive use of visual elements in packaging design. On the other hand , maximalism is a style that tends to use visual elements such as images , graphics , saturated colors, , font and visual effects to an excessive degree.

The study aims to investigate the effectiveness of using each of these design trends in different packaging designs. The study follows a descriptive - analytical approach to analyze different packaging designs from the Egyptian market and to verify the effectiveness of using both minimalism and maximalism in packaging design for many different products.

The study concluded that it is important for the packaging designers to study modern design trends to determine the most appropriate approach in terms of simplicity and complexity for designing products. The study also found that a combined approach of using both minimalism and maximalism is suitable for certain products, where minimalism is suitable for some products to achieve positive results with the consumers, while maximalism is suitable for different types of products and can attract consumers to the packaging.
