Abstract

With the beginning of the third millennium, man made sure that science and technology had reached the highest levels of progress and sophistication, which made humanity at the top of the level of well-being and prosperity in all areas of life, which led to a constantly accelerating change in the style and form of life.

However, this scientific progress resulted in side effects that led to an increase in environmental pollution, whose sources multiplied due to the large numerical increase of the population and the permanent and increasing demand for energy to perform the various activities of man. As a result of these activities, a lot of waste has become, the process of collecting, transporting and disposing of them has become one of the arduous matters in order to preserve health and the environment

It was also found that in the event of waste disposal in any manner, it will also lead to environmental pollution, so the thinking turned to either recycle or upcycle (creative reuse) in order to protect natural resources, reduce waste to the lowest possible degree, and reduce energy use. In production processes, saving money and time.

Recycling of waste is usually done by recycling it and using it as operating materials or treating it chemically or thermally to manufacture new raw materials that are re-introduced in the industry.

As for the method of creative reuse in waste treatment, the research finds that the industrial designer has an important role if he follows it, as it is possible to teach students how to benefit from waste through “reformulating the design vocabulary” of old things or products to create new product designs that have a new use with a completely new philosophical point of view. It is unconventional and has aesthetic shapes, thus saving raw materials, energy and cost, extending the life of the product and using it more than once, which benefits the environment and society in addition to reducing pollution
