Abstract

The idea of merging between the two styles of Islamic furniture and the furniture designed by Rennie Mackintosh came to produce new pieces of furniture that have a modern and abstract character, but at the same time have a classic heritage taste and a rich historical background through their influence on the distinctive Islamic style of furniture.

While there may not be a direct connection between Islamic geometric furniture design and Rennie Mackintosh furniture design, some similarities can be noted in terms of aesthetic principles and attention to detail.

The geometric design of Islamic furniture and Mackintosh furniture design share an emphasis on clean lines, simplicity, and the integration of aesthetics and functionality. Islamic geometric patterns and Mackintosh designs are often characterized by geometric shapes and a sense of balance and harmony.

Moreover, both design styles emphasize the use of natural materials and craftsmanship. Islamic geometric furniture design often uses wood in the frame, and ivory and mother-of-pearl inlays, while Mackintosh designs also use natural materials such as wood, stained glass, and metal.

Perhaps the success of this merger may contribute to presenting Islamic furniture to society and to the ordinary Western recipient in an easy and simplified manner in a more abstract dress in details while preserving the spirit of style, which is what attracts and seduces these societies in the last decades in Europe in general, where it has become Abstraction and simplification are one of the most important features of the visual arts in general, including architecture - external or internal - and furniture design, as well as various industrial products.

Perhaps this merger will help in exporting the style of Islamic art and furniture, and in introducing the West to its rich features and details.

While these design styles may have different origins and philosophies, it is interesting to note how they share certain design principles that contribute to the integration and intellectual and design richness that benefit the recipient.
