Abstract

The heritage buildings remaining to the present day from previous generations are a message from the fragrant past, as a living witness to their enduring traditions, and with the growing awareness of people of the unity of human values related to ancient monuments as a cultural heritage, the feeling of the necessity of preserving heritage buildings for subsequent generations has increased, as it is a shared responsibility to preserve them for them, With the same full richness and authenticity.

It was necessary to put forward the principles guiding the preservation and restoration of heritage buildings on agreed international principals. Applying these principles is the responsibility of each country in proportion to its cultural structure and traditions.

By defining these basic principles for the first time, the Athens Conference of 1931 contributed to the development of a wide-ranging global movement to form a coherent formulation of national documents on the principles of conservation of heritage buildings.

Within the framework of the work of ICOMOS and UNESCO and the subsequent establishment of the International Center for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), with increasing awareness and critical and careful study to address problems that continue to increase, become more complex and more diverse, the time has come to renew the Charter. And make a comprehensive study of the principles contained in the charter to expand its objectives in a new charter.

Research problem:

Many heritage documents in Egypt can be affected due to various factors, including random heritage, including their exposure to damage and deterioration due to their exclusion and non-use. They may have been approved and millions of dollars spent on restoration, so the focus must be on displaying the antiquities and there is no objection to using the buildings for heritage. I will present its features and benefits.

The aim of the research:

The search aims to find solutions for the maintenance of heritage buildings by permanently rehabilitating these buildings and ensuring their sustainability without compromising their value, as well as highlighting the importance and advantages of rehabilitating and using heritage buildings.
