Implementing fashion sustainability strategies in the economic empowerment of Saudi youth

Abstract

The garment industry is one of the pillars that supports the national economy and enriches society in creating job opportunities through small and medium enterprises. Small enterprises are the locomotive of the national economy because of their impact on increasing production and creating new job opportunities to empower Saudi youth, and support a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. It is a source of strength that provides investments and is a driver of the Saudi economy and a financial resource, providing material and human resources that seek to renaissance the Saudi society and achieve Vision 2030.

Clothing reflects the development and advancement of society, economically and scientifically, in addition to expressing the culture of the society and its religious, intellectual and cultural inheritance. Sustainability strategies in the garment industry play an important role in reducing industrial waste, reducing pollution and ensuring environmental sustainability, including fabric recycling, reuse and zero waste.

This research aims is usage fabric waste in the production of women's clothing accessories, determine technical methods for producing women's clothing accessories from fabric waste, and analyze the opinions of specialists and consumers regarding the samples carried out from fabric waste

Research objectives:

1- Using leftover fabrics to produce women’s clothing accessories.

2- Identify the technical methods for using leftover fabrics in the production of women’s clothing accessories

3- Analyzing the opinions of specialists and consumers regarding samples carried out from fabric residues (exhaust).

Significance of research:

1- Preserving human health and the environment from pollution by encouraging the recycling of textile waste.

2- Contributing to creating job opportunities for youth and productive families by encouraging small projects that work to recycle leftover fabrics, which in turn supports the national economy.

3- Enriching the research library with scientific research in the field of clothing, textiles and sustainability.

The research sample:

The human sample includes a purposive sample from a group of arbitrators with experience and expertise in the field of clothing and textiles, from faculty members in the clothing and textile departments, and their number reached (10). And a group of 20 consumers.
