Abstract

The research deals with the aesthetic and functional value in the architecture of the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakesh, Morocco. The research aims to document the continuity of cultural and functional architectural values in modern architecture in the Maghreb, and to link the functional values of Islamic architecture and its architectural elements to contemporary architectural designs, through the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. In addition to emphasizing the importance of reviving the role of cultural and religious architectural elements of societies; To achieve originality in modern architecture,. And extracting the aesthetic and functional values at the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech.

Research approach Historical method; Through studying the influence of the museum building on historical buildings and elements, in addition to the descriptive analytical approach, which was based on analyzing the various architectural elements that make up the museum and evaluating them according to the recognized standards of authenticity. The research also addressed the most important heritage architectural elements present in the museum, and the multiple functions of the museum components. The research reviewed the most important concepts related to aesthetic and functional value, and the relationship of each of them to architectural design and art.

The research assumed that the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakesh contains important aesthetic, functional and architectural values that reflect the importance of its location and function associated with the international elegance icon Yves Saint Laurent.

The research reviewed the most important concepts related to the study: it dealt with value in its multiple classifications, and the values associated with the museum, the most important of which are architectural aesthetic value and function, the relationship between function and aesthetic value, the concept of architectural design, the standards of authenticity on which the research is based, and the most important architectural functional vocabulary for the museum.

The research recommends that designers and entrepreneurs in the Arab Republic of Egypt choose projects characterized by a distinctive type and nature, especially if they take place in locations with a distinct cultural or natural identity, and especially linking the projects to influential international figures, and based on authenticity standards. This in turn enriches the site with successful architectural models that contribute to increasing awareness. And general culture, in addition to being an additional source of national income.
