Abstract

Patience is a concept about which there are many and different points of view when it is dealt with by research and study. This is due to the religious, moral, psychological, literary, economic, and political meaning that the concept contains, as well as a social concept in that it has a role and function in preserving, cohesion, and stability of the social structure. It has its place among the social values of the Egyptian people.

Folk art, in addition to its local geographic regionality, is a global art in style and style. The difference between a popular artist in one place in the world and another artist is limited to details determined by (culture - religion - environment), but they are united in terms of content, and folk art is distinguished by its set of units and symbols, and the symbol is The product of a continuous process of cultural accumulation, each symbol has artistic, aesthetic and semantic value.

From here came the idea of research, which is the concept of patience in Egyptian folk art and making use of its symbols and units in designing a group of contemporary textile hangings. Indeed, a special program for textile design (Ned graphic) was used to create a group of designs suitable as textile hangings, using the symbols of folk art, where it was Designing eight pendants, then these designs were evaluated by a group of specialized arbitrators by preparing a questionnaire containing four axes: design elements, design foundations, the aesthetic value of the design, and functional performance. The top three designs that obtained first places were implemented using the semi-hand twist method. Tuft).

The results showed the success of the design vision and the proposed implemented models. The study also reached a set of recommendations that, if implemented, could develop the level and aesthetics of textile designs for pendants in Egyptian society.
