The role of historical architectural scale models in Egyptian Museums ,Case study of The scale models in The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.

Abstract

Architectural scale models are considered one of the most famous kinds of art known throughout history, including the anthropomorphism of different lands and terrains, such as seas, mountains, and plains, to study military plans for a battle or mass and detailed models of buildings.

Architectural scale models also considered as the most important outputs that the architectural labor market requires it, to study the design or prosses of a project or to explain the design idea to a client, or to directly market a project (for example, resorts, residential Buildings ... etc.).

Also, one of the most important roles recent uses of historical architectural scale models in recreational activities, especially in museums and museum parks that are spread in many European and Asian countries and some Arab countries, is spreading culture and awareness about heritage and archaeological to the visitors in a simpler way.

Based on the above, the researcher found it necessary to study some of the local experiences in this field, especially the personal experience in making some of historical architectural models for six of the most famous buildings in Islamic and local architecture in Egypt, which are currently displayed in the main exhibition hall of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization as part of a collection, and through studying and analyzing these models it is possible to identify a set of positives and negatives for these experiences and some of results and recommendations that in turn can contribute to enhancing the role of museums in cultural enrichment and also in promoting Egyptian tourism.
