Embodying radio drama through scene design in animated films

Abstract

This research is concerned with the topic of identity and cultural heritage, in addition to the history and events that shaped modern Egyptian civilization. The researcher held an exhibition of plastic arts that addressed these concerns through artistic works.

The treatment was done through a cinematic vision through animation films, especially the aspect of the storyboard and the design of scenes, shots and characters. The exhibition included twenty-one works in the form of paintings within the framework of a storyboard for a sequential animated film, which embodies a dramatic, narrative radio work that was shown on the radio in the 1960s. Al-Madi was represented by a group of Egyptian drama figures in the form of a radio series with a large audience, and was written by the great Lebanese novelist and writer (George Zidane) based on his famous story of the wandering Mamluk, which was in Beirut on December 14, 1861, for a poor Christian family from the village of Ain Enab in Mount Lebanon, and it is believed that its origin is He goes back to Houran in Syria, and his father, Habib Zaidan, was an illiterate man who owned a restaurant in Burj Square in Beirut, frequented by literary and linguistic scholars and students of the American College. (1) The researcher conducted this research to theorize the introduction through the exhibition. Research problem: Does converting the radio audio novel into a visual film make it lose the appeal and the spirit of imagination that the listener finds? Research objectives: The research aims to revive and revitalize the cultural heritage and radio heritage and show it in another way that is compatible with the spirit of the times while preserving the roots of the recent past, which lost its splendor with the development of means of presentation.
