Abstract

Throughout history, water has been an essential element for the existence of humanity, and human life has always been linked to water, as bodies of water have been an element of attraction for humans since ancient times. Since ancient times, humans have understood their relationship with water and were dependent on it in various fields. Given that all their activities were carried out next to water and depending on it, they This led to the emergence of settlements and civilizations around the world, always near water sources such as streams, rivers, and lakes. These civilizations relied on water to perform their activities, whether agriculture, trade, nutrition, or transportation and movement. The closer these civilizations were to water, the more they flourished.

In addition to its importance as a source of life and prosperity, water was a prominent decorative element, as residential interiors, palaces, and courtyards were revived and connected to the outside by incorporating streams and fountains into floor plans and gardens. Eventually, water became an essential feature in interior and exterior designs, and water applications were distinguished. In various eras, it has thermal, economic, decorative and material benefits.

With the continuous progress and importance of water applications and their impact on internal and external spaces, there had to be a development in water applications and how the water element enters spaces. We find a constant development in the forms and applications of water in spaces, and constant attempts to reach new forms and adapt water into different formations. Suitable for internal and external environments of various types.

The problem of the research appears in the lack of the water element in modern designs. By using the water element, the interior designer achieves high-quality designs functionally, aesthetically, and environmentally. Therefore, to help open horizons for new water applications in the future, it was necessary to study the importance of the water element and its applications in interior and exterior features.
