Abstract

The artistic environment is often supportive of renewal, creativity, and the introduction of new forms in art, and this renewal can only be obtained through an updated vision and contemporary methods of thought and continuous experimentation, in addition to studying new materials and methods of forming them and employing them with new thinking in a way that is compatible with their formal and plastic properties and capabilities.

Artistic work is always subject to development throughout history, influenced by reality, events, and scientific and technological discoveries in all fields, especially the field of developing materials, processing them, and methods of forming them. Technology and nanotechnology have added many formal properties and capabilities to many of the materials used in works of plastic art, whether utilitarian or aesthetic. Despite the technological progress in the manufacture, development and innovation of modern materials and raw materials, the effects of which have appeared in many fields, these materials have not been used sufficiently in the fields of plastic arts, especially in artistic works. The artist in the modern era must be fully aware of the latest technology. Science has brought him modern materials and techniques, which influence and change his artistic ideas and concepts in the production of his works.

The artist and researcher who possesses cognitive abilities about modern and smart materials can use them to create works of art that are compatible with the requirements of the times, and the technology and techniques of these materials help him in producing innovative interactive art works that have many dimensions and formal variables.

Accordingly, the researcher moved towards shedding light on some smart materials and materials and their importance in formulating a new idea for the artistic work, and finding new approaches to the artistic work based on taking advantage of the formal and plastic capabilities of the smart materials, by emphasizing their use as an alternative to traditional materials in the artistic work due to their New features and properties.
