Abstract

This research entitled "Artificial intelligence as a stimulating tool for creativity and innovation in product design among industrial design students", studied the relationship between modern artificial intelligence tools and their ability to support and develop the creative skills of design students, through an applied experiment in which tools are used to generate ideas, images and prototypes within students' design projects. The importance of research is highlighted in light of the rapid digital transformation and the increasing reliance of students on artificial intelligence techniques without sufficient studies that monitor the impact of these tools on the quality of the educational and creative process, which requires a deeper understanding of their role, whether as an auxiliary tool or as an element that may threaten the originality of the design. The problem with the research is whether the use of artificial intelligence actually enhances students' abilities to innovate and create, or leads to reliance on ready-made mechanisms that weaken the uniqueness of design production. The research aims to measure the impact of the use of these tools on the process of generating design ideas, and to discover the extent of their impact on the quality of the final product, in addition to monitoring students' attitudes towards their use, and the research includes several main axes, including the level of knowledge of artificial intelligence techniques, their practical uses, their creative repercussions, and the associated concerns such as the loss of design identity or the marginalization of traditional skills. The research uses a questionnaire tool to gauge students' opinions, as well as analyze the designs resulting from the experiment. The researcher assumes that artificial intelligence has a positive impact on the development of creativity if it is employed in a complementary rather than alternative manner. The research hopes to provide practical recommendations for integrating these tools into industrial design approaches to support innovation and guide the responsible use of modern technologies.
