Abstract

Ancient Egyptian architecture was associated with many sciences, including astronomy, which the ancient Egyptians used in their lifestyle and funeral rituals. The ancient Egyptians observed the sky and astronomical and natural phenomena, and this observation contributed to the formation of the Egyptian faith in a mixture in which it is difficult to distinguish between science and religion.

Analyzing ancient Egyptian architectural models from an astronomical point of view allows for a different vision of ancient Egyptian architecture, its components and internal spaces, where the building is linked to the stars, planets and celestial bodies and then to the entire universe. Thus, these buildings have different characteristics and qualities, and these different characteristics are reflected in their internal spaces and thus their impact on the users of the space.

This research paper seeks to determine the characteristics of these spaces by analyzing some models of ancient Egyptian architecture related to astronomy and employing them to obtain different spaces with different features.

Research Problem: Is ancient Egyptian architecture related to astronomy? To what extent was it influenced and connected to this science in terms of construction style, building characteristics, and interior spaces? What are the characteristics of the interior spaces in these buildings?

And how can these characteristics be leveraged to create modern interior spaces with distinctive features?

Research Objective:

1. The research aims to study and monitor the relationship between ancient Egyptian astronomy and ancient Egyptian architecture.

2. To study the characteristics of the interior spaces of ancient Egyptian architecture in some examples of architecture associated with astronomy.

3. To develop proposals for utilizing ancient Egyptian buildings and the characteristics of their interior spaces in contemporary interior spaces.

Research Methodology: The research follows a descriptive-analytical approach and a deductive approach.

Research Hypotheses: The research hypotheses that the connection between ancient Egyptian architecture and astronomy, stars, and celestial bodies gives it distinct characteristics.
