Abstract

The concept of adaptive reuse is a modern way to reuse buildings, which can be used for a new use other than their original use, and has a national and societal role in that the exploitation of abandoned and unused buildings, works to achieve a benefit that meets the necessary needs and has an impact on the economic return on the country, and this idea has played a major role and has met with success and societal acceptance, as it plays an important role in improving the environment from reconstruction and reducing pollution areas, in addition to providing spaces and buildings when re- Their use plays an important role in attracting residents and tourists to these areas.

In our time, the concept of sustainability has begun to emerge, as the idea of adaptive use is the idea of sustainability in every sense of the word, as it is related to the reuse of existing buildings, it also plays an important role in improving the environment and reducing its damage due to its demolition or abandonment, and thus preserves the country's heritage through buildings that have a cultural and historical role, all these things cherish belonging to identity and heritage and the importance of preserving them.

The experiment has succeeded in adaptive reuse in converting abandoned buildings into buildings that serve the community, and have a role in improving the environment for the sites where these buildings are located, such as the Al-Shihabi building in Jerusalem on Al-Zahra Street, which remained abandoned for more than twenty years to be used later and re-adapted to the Edward Said Institute of Music, and this work was the motivation for a study to re-adapt the Natsheh building in Hebron to be used as a building for a music institute, The fact that Hebron lacks an institute specialized in this field, which is an attraction and improvement factor for the environment in the Old City of Hebron, and to create a beautiful nature that is loved by the local people.
