Abstract

Amid the rapid developments in the field of design, research efforts are increasingly directed toward the creation of new concepts that enhance creative design practices and connect them with natural sources of inspiration. Nature, with its complexity and beauty, has long been a source of influence in design, and modern research seeks to deepen this connection. From this perspective, the study explores the formulation of a new theory known as the "Organic Visual Design Theory", which aims to integrate visual thinking with the principles of organic design. This theory proposes that design can be enriched by drawing inspiration from natural elements and the laws that govern them, such as patterns, structures, and relationships found in the environment.

Rather than viewing nature merely as a source of aesthetic appeal, this theory positions nature as a powerful provider of functional visual systems that improve communication, enhance understanding, and foster deeper engagement with design. The theory encourages the application of principles such as biomorphic shapes, adaptive structures, and natural symmetry to create visual compositions that are both aesthetically pleasing and functionally effective. By doing so, it establishes a new framework that recognizes nature as not only a source of inspiration but also a system for improving the impact of visual communication.

The research focuses on shaping and articulating this theory through practical application within the context of the “Design Fundamentals” course, which serves as an experimental platform for developing and testing the theory's concepts. In this course, students engage in projects that explore the analysis of natural forms and their translation into design outcomes. The goal is to test the effectiveness of the theory in creating innovative, nature-inspired designs that have both visual and communicative value.

Through this research, the study aims to contribute to the broader design field by promoting a more holistic, nature-integrated approach to visual design.
