Abstract
Technological advancements have introduced innovative educational methods, with virtual environments (virtual reality) emerging as one of the most transformative tools. This research investigates the potential of using virtual environments for teaching ceramic sculpture remotely, particularly during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic, which highlighted the need for flexible and effective alternatives to traditional education.
Adopting a descriptive and analytical approach, the study examines applications such as Oculus Medium and Gravity Sketch, which enable immersive, interactive simulations of the ceramic design and sculpture process. These tools provide students with hands-on experiences, allowing them to engage directly with instructors and educational content. The study focuses on developing virtual environments that simulate the different stages of ceramic work, enhancing comprehension and interaction between students and educators.
The findings reveal several advantages of integrating virtual reality into art education. It offers safe, risk-free environments for learning, reduces time and costs compared to traditional methods, and removes spatial and temporal constraints, enabling students to learn anytime and anywhere. Furthermore, virtual environments enrich the educational experience, fostering creativity and helping students better understand artistic concepts through direct and practical engagement.
The research emphasizes the importance of adopting virtual reality in educational settings, particularly for courses like ceramic sculpture that require hands-on practice. It recommends developing specialized educational programs that leverage virtual reality, training educators to ensure effective implementation, and expanding the use of this technology into other art and design fields. Additionally, the study advocates for the inclusion of virtual environments in educational curricula as a standard tool for modern teaching.
This research demonstrates how virtual environments can revolutionize art education, providing innovative, engaging, and practical solutions that meet the demands of the digital age. By integrating such technologies, educators can enhance the quality of learning, ensure continuity during crises, and open new creative horizons for students.
