In light of the rapid technological advancements, the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as one of the latest developments in information and communication technology. It refers to "the concept of connecting various physical devices to the internet, allowing them to collect, exchange data, and interact with one another without direct human intervention."
IoT has become a fundamental pillar in the construction of smart environments, particularly in residential settings. Its role has expanded beyond improving service efficiency or reducing energy consumption, directly impacting the quality of life and psychological well-being of individuals within their homes. Through the integration of smart sensing technologies, automated controls, and continuous communication between devices, it has become possible to create residential environments that respond to users' psychological and physical needs. These environments foster calmness, reduce stressors, and enhance feelings of safety and tranquility.
This interactive synergy between the user and IoT technologies represents a fundamental shift in the concept of housing, transforming it from merely a shelter to a healthy and intelligent space that supports psychological well-being and sustainable comfort. Given the global proliferation of IoT and its significant benefits in simplifying daily life and reducing operational costs, this research explores IoT as a leading technology in the field of information technology today. It investigates how IoT can be integrated into the interior design of smart homes, thus enabling the interaction of interior elements with the user’s needs. This includes the ability to control various elements of the home, such as lighting, temperature, sound, and security systems, through internet-connected sensors and devices capable of storing, analyzing, and controlling data. The research also explores how interactive relationships can be established between spatial elements and individual behaviors, presenting case studies that demonstrate these concepts in residential settings with the aim of enhancing users' psychological well-being.
