Abstract:
The world is witnessing a big boom in the field of innovations, inventions and technological developmen. The daily things that we use have evolved greatly as the ideas of authors and designers, which we considered as science fiction and future aspirations through science fiction films, have become a tangible reality through scientific and technological development. Technology in science fiction studies the possibilities and effects of new technological concepts. Sometimes technology appears first through innovations and inventions in science fiction movies, then it becomes a reality, and in other times real technology appears first and then authors of science fiction films imagine how to use it. So science fiction is a combination of what Imaginary is and what is realistic and It is also the language of the times and is one of the most important means that exist in our time as a kind of progress. Many scientific technologies in science fiction stories and on cinema screens in the past began to appear, such as mobile phones, computer technologies, satellites, submarines, aircraft and self driving cars. The research problem is summarized in answering the following questions: Do science fiction films play a role in technological development? What is the evidence for that? The research aimed to identify the role of science fiction films in technological development and to reach this goal, the research used the analytical approach through reviewing the concept of science fiction, science fiction films and examples of some innovations and inventions that first appeared in science fiction films and then have now become a reality, and the concept of technology and development Technology in order to determine the role and importance of science fiction films in technological development. The most important results of the research are that the ideas of authors and designers in science fiction films are considered the most important resones of technological development, design can precede technology and that there are no limits to design or technology. The most important recommendations are designers and technologists must be attention and tracking of in all the innovations and inventions presented by science fiction films as they are considered a source of future design and technologica ideas.
